Life moves fast in Loudoun.
Consistently ranked as one of the fastest growing counties in the United States, Loudoun sees a constant influx of new residents and new development on open land. Because of this, the countyâs history and culture are in danger of becoming a distant blur. As the guardian of the countyâs rich history and character, the Loudoun Museum stands in the gap between the past and the future of this dynamic area. Located in downtown Leesburg, the museum houses an extensive collection of documents, photographs and artifacts that form a physical connection to the past but, more importantly, the museum is the caretaker of the narrative memory of a region that holds significant historical importance.
But as life in the county continues to accelerate, the museum began to fall behind. An outdated website left the museum largely inaccessible to a mobile connected population and the museum suffered from shortfalls in attention and funding.
SynaVista helped the museum team develop a strategy to promote the entertainment and cultural value of the local institution. Our work began with a task to quickly develop a site to promote the popular Hauntings Tours. These walks through historic downtown Leesburg highlight the lore and mythology of the paranormal happenings in the county. With only a few weeks before the Halloween season, SynaVista developed a themed site that promoted the events and provided online ticket sales. The site allowed the institution to sell hundreds of advance tickets and served as a foundation for advertising campaigns on radio and television.
After the initial rush of work that was put into the successful launch of the Hauntings site, attention turned to the main site for the museum. Relying on extensive experience in the interpretive industry, SynaVista designed and developed a content management system (CMS) site that is carefully crafted to be visually compelling while offering an easily navigable variety of information for visitors. The new site allows tours and exhibits to be featured prominently while providing a broad selection of topics for users to drill into based on their own interests.
Additionally, the site provides the interface for individuals and businesses to financially support the museum on a variety of levels, with online donations.
The site is also designed to be a mobile responsive site which means its information and experience are maintained regardless of the device the viewer uses. From smart phones to tablets, the site provides the information that people on the go are looking for in order to keep the museum relevant and vital to the community it serves, now and for many years to come.
